Tandem skydiving in Moab, Utah
Description
Skydive at 14,000 feet above Moab
The Skydive Moab tandem skydive allows you to discover the iconic landscapes of Utah from an altitude of 14,000 feet. The experience begins with an airplane climb that flies over the Moab area, offering a first glimpse of the red rock formations, plateaus, and the typical terrain of the Colorado Desert. During this ascent, the tandem instructor presents the steps of the jump, the position to adopt, and the essential instructions for approaching the aircraft exit safely.
55 seconds of freefall facing Moab’s red landscapes
Once the exit altitude is reached, the door opens and freefall begins immediately at over 120 mph, with nearly 55 seconds before the parachute opens. During freefall, you immediately see the landmarks surrounding the Moab drop zone, the red walls of Arches National Park, the plateaus of the Colorado Plateau, as well as the desert zones bordering the city. The exit takes place above the valley where Moab is located, the terrain leading toward Dead Horse Point State Park, and the rocky lines marking the entrance to Canyonlands National Park. Throughout freefall, the instructor maintains tandem stability, which gives you time to clearly see the different formations characteristic of this region of Utah, visible only during a skydive.
Canopy descent above the Colorado Desert
After the parachute opens, the descent continues for several minutes at a slower pace, which makes it easier to observe the surrounding landscapes. The Moab area allows you to distinguish the contrasts between sandstone formations, erosion-carved valleys, and the desert expanses around the drop zone. During this phase, the instructor shows you how the canopy works and, depending on conditions, may allow the participant to perform a few simple actions on the controls. The gentle landing near the takeoff runway marks the end of this unforgettable moment.
